Distortions

For the past few years, the Mass Fiscal Alliance has been attempting to influence our local elections by lying to the voters in an effort to buy, cheat and steal our elections.

Don’t be fooled! Don’t let outside dark money influence your opinion or your vote.  Get the facts about the Mass Fiscal Alliance!

Here are a few broad distortions & lies:

✘ It claims…

To be a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused solely on advocating for good government and sound fiscal policies.

The FACTS…

The MFA is an extremist Tea Party front group. Every member of the MFA board has participated in the Republican Party at the state or national level.

✘ It claims…

To support efforts that increase transparency in government.

The FACTS…

As a Citizens United-sanctioned super PAC, the Mass Fiscal Alliance wants others to do what it is unwilling to do itself — reveal who the donors are and how much they give. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have passed through the MFA in a campaign finance “shell game” that lets wealthy Republican special interests influence elections. State regulators have demanded to know where the MFA’s donations come from, but the secretive group won’t come clean.

✘ It claims…

To focus on sound fiscal policies to make our communities better.

The FACTS…

A recent MassFiscal mailing targeted districts with Democratic incumbents and alleged that these elected officials had voted against military veterans in favor of undocumented immigrants. THIS IS 100 PERCENT FALSE. It is unconscionable that MassFiscal is using veterans as props for its political crusade.

✘ It claims…

To honestly present information to the residents of Massachusetts in order to “educate” and to “advocate.”

The FACTS…

The MFA cherry-picks the districts in which it “educates” and “advocates.”  In fact, it has chosen only areas where Republican challengers are running against Democratic state representatives. The only reason these districts were selected was to influence voters. This violates the MFA’s nonprofit status. As Bostonmagazine asked in 2014, “What is Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance’s Problem?

The claims made by the Mass Fiscal Alliance just don’t make sense!
